Queen City Classic IX

Heavy Metal Barbell is proud to host the 9th Queen City Classic! Join us on May 2nd, 2026, at Charlotte Strength for this USA Weightlifting Sanctioned Event that allows athletes to qualify for USAW Nationals Week as Youth, Junior, U25, or Senior Athletes.

HYROX Simulation

Once each quarter, Charlotte Strength hosts a HYROX Simulation designed to replicate race day as closely as possible. The format, flow, standards, and intensity match an official HYROX event so athletes can experience exactly what to expect on race day.

The simulation features a 1km running loop, full competition-style workout stations, and a high-energy environment that challenges your conditioning, pacing, and mental toughness. Athletes can compete solo or with a partner, making it a true test whether you’re racing individually or as a team.

If you’re training for an upcoming HYROX race or want to benchmark your fitness in a race-style setting, this is your chance to step on the floor and compete.

2026 Charlotte Team Cup

Registration Opens on October 26th and Closes January 10th. While this is a Team Focused event, you do not have to be a part of a 4 person team to compete.

Teams of 4 Athletes entered and scored using our Lou-Clair proprietary scoring system. Lou-Clair Scoring levels the playing field between beginners, intermediates and elites exporting an adjust score based on performance.

The more lifts made, the higher an athlete’s score! A beginner who goes 6/6 will beat an elite who goes 4/6 in our scoring system. Rewarding those who are consistent and thoughtful in their attempts.

A Team Trophy will be presented to the best combined score of 4 Athletes!

This is a 1 Platform Competition with a maximum of 60 spots.

The event will take place at Charlotte Strength on January 24th. A schedule will be released 1 week prior to the event.
